The T-3-C “Crate”™ lamp has been widely recognized by experts in the mid-century modern field as the most important example of post war American modern lighting design.
With its whimsical cork ball feet, and floating spaceship like light reflector, James Harvey Crate’s design epitomizes what was to become known as the “Atomic” style. The lamp’s distinctive look and innovative design won it 3rd place honors in the Museum Of Modern Art lamp design competition of 1950.
